The Trust has supported Coten End in implementing the Outdoor Play and Learning Programme. OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) is a structured program designed to improve and enrich playtime in schools. The program aims to address common issues around children’s play experiences, such as limited space, restrictive rules, and a lack of resources. OPAL’s main goal is to create a culture where outdoor play is integrated into the school day, recognising that play is essential for children’s development, physical health, social skills, and emotional well-being. With the grant support of £4,700, they have been able to open up all outdoor areas to children throughout the school year as children have wellies that are effectively stored and easy to access throughout playtime. The storage solution has equipment that can be utilised by children at playtime e.g. sports equipment, parachutes, costumes, chalk and more, and is accessible all over the school grounds. The attached photos demonstrate exactly how effective this has been. This storage is perfect as it is both watertight but also accessible to children.
