Evergreen & Woodloes Primary

The two schools had worked together to develop an outdoor learning experience by creating a community eco learning area that will include a range of eco-friendly learning spaces and activities that pupils from both schools can access.  The project includes:-

• A bio diverse pond for pond dipping
• Bee hives to teach about the importance of bees (in collaboration with The Bee Keeping Society)
• Horticultural areas including raised beds and a poly tunnel
• Bug hotels to teach about the importance of habitats for mini beast
• Chicken coup to teach about animal care and the food chain
• Herb garden to engage multi-sensory leaning and food tasting
• Composting & wormery area to teach about the importance of recycling
• Outdoor classroom to create an all year round facility for collaborative work from both schools and to create opportunity for Eco after school clubs
• Tree planting and willow hedging – Forest School extension
• Wild flower meadow to support eco philosophy

A grant of £10,000 was awarded in support of this project.
