Newburgh Primary – Courtyard Project

The development of the courtyard has become an environmental haven where the children can learn about sustainable growing.  A greenhouse and planters suitable for group gardening teaching have been installed. The courtyard is multi-functional, it is used as a quiet space for the children during recreation times where they will sit and play games on the new benches, act out plays on the stage and in summer eat their lunch.  It is also used by teaching staff to enhance their teaching giving them an enclosed teaching area where the children can work outside.  It is a good space for their vulnerable children to have reflection time when this is required and works well as a calming and tranquil environment.

A grant of £5,000 was awarded in support of this project.
