The King Henry VIII Endowed Trust, Warwick awarded a grant of £4,210 to enable Warwick Tennis Club to allow bursaries to continue to be given to 18 children aged between 4 – 17 years that live in Warwick so that they can have tennis coaching throughout the year.
The eligible children that benefitted from the bursaries came from local schools in Warwick who have shown the desire to try out the game of tennis. Assistance was awarded to those children identified with the help of their school Head teachers.
The support given for these bursaries to take place encourages more children in Warwick to take up the sport and to recognise those children that are trying the most to improve and learn the game. Without the help that these bursaries provide Warwick Tennis Club believe that these children would not take up the sport or at least try it out and so miss the opportunity that playing a sport and joining a club can offer them.
The grant included club membership for those 18 children, keepsake trophies, five mini-racquets and seven junior racquets for the older children. The trophies were awarded to the winners and runners-up of each age group of the annual junior championships that are engraved with a Tudor Rose design, together with the name of ‘The King Henry VIII Endowed Trust’.
